Question: 2021 Lincoln Aviator alternator is oily. Is that why its not working?

Answer: Oil can cause disintegration of the Brushes / Slipring connection and will certainly cause charging problem.  You will have to open and look at the brushes to see if the oil is likely causing the charging problem/ codes.
